LEGO Creator Expert has been a fan-favourite theme since it’s official inception in 2013. Sets with advanced building techniques were sold under the LEGO Model Team sub theme from the mid 1980s until 1999. LEGO then made non-themed ‘LEGO Exclusive’ advanced sets, like the original Statue of Liberty set in the period in between.

10. LEGO Creator Expert 10273 Haunted House - £209.99

RRP £209.99 | $249.99 | €229.99

Not just an intricately designed build with 9 minifigures, the LEGO Haunted House also features optional powered elements (eg. Madman’s Lift and Von Barron Glowing Portrait) that can be controlled via the Powered Up smartphone app. The set was released in May 2020 and consists of 3231 pieces.

With 3898 pieces, the January 2020-released LEGO Old Trafford - Manchester United set comprises 5 sections, the pitch and the 4 stands, which can be easily separated. The finished build is near stud-less thanks to the ampleness of smooth tiles and slopes.

8. LEGO Creator Expert 10234 Sydney Opera House - £249.99

A Creator Expert classic, the LEGO Sydney Opera House was released in September 2013 and includes 2989 pieces. The build includes a large number of less common dark tan bricks, tiles and slopes and measures 63cm (w) x 38cm (d) x 28cm (h).

The LEGO Assembly Square set, made up of 4002 parts, was released in January 2017. Like other modular sets in the Creator Expert line, it includes a variety of set pieces from a florist shop and bakery to a dance studio and dentist’s office.

Modelled on the largest stadium in Spain and Europe, the LEGO Camp Nou set was released in September 2021. With 5509 pieces, the set has a 40% higher part count than the Old Trafford set but like Old Trafford, it also includes 5 detachable sections (including the pitch).

The LEGO Taj Majal set, released in December 2017, is actually a re-release of the 2008 LEGO 10189 Taj Mahal. Unlike some other set re-releases, which tend to make alterations to the design, there are only a couple of differences in this case. Firstly, a brick separator has been included with the new set, explaining the 1 higher part count. And secondly, one of the hidden dark tan technic pieces has been swapped out for a dark bluish grey version.

The LEGO Roller Coaster is similar to the Haunted House in that includes mechanical functionality. You can use the standard hand controls or upgrade to an automated system with a battery box and M-motor. Add more functionality with a LEGO Boost Creative Toolbox. The set was released in June 2018 and contains 4124 pieces.

The LEGO Real Madrid Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, like similar LEGO Stadium sets, depicts the Spanish stadium in great detail. This 5876 pieces had a March 2022 release date.
