LEGO Architecture, a popular theme first introduced in 2008, is a relatively recent addition to the LEGO lineup. The company as a whole began manufacturing interlocking bricks 59 years earlier in 1949. Aimed at a more mature audience than most of their other themes, Architecture has filled a gap in the LEGO market, attracting art and architecture fans.

10. LEGO Architecture 21005 Fallingwater - £74.99

RRP £74.99 | $99.99 | €89.99

Released all the way back in August 2009, LEGO Fallingwater was the second set, after the Guggenheim Museum (released one month prior) that really started to show the true potential of the LEGO Architecture line. This intricately crafted 811 piece set recreates the famous Frank Lloyd Wright-designed house based in Laurel Highlands, Pennsylvania.

The 1197 piece LEGO Trafalgar Square, based on the famous 19th century public square in Central London, was released in August 2019. The building techniques used to construct the sets staircases in particular captured the attention of Architecture fans.

8. LEGO Architecture 21030 United States Capitol Building - £84.99

The LEGO United States Capitol Building was the third largest Architecture set ever produced when it was released in September 2016. With 1032 pieces, the build captures the famous meeting place of the United States Congress. Specifically, the set features the Capitol’s neoclassical facade, steps, rotunda, colonnades and the north and south wings.

7. LEGO Architecture 21056 Taj Mahal - £89.99

The LEGO Taj Mahal, released in June 2021, is actually the third LEGO iteration of the world famous white-marble mausoleum. The first Taj Mahal (10189) was a 5922 piece set released in 2008, the second (10256) was pretty much a 2017 re-release of the first. This third LEGO iteration scales it down but with 2022 pieces it’s still actually one of the largest Architecture sets ever released.

6. LEGO Architecture 21046 Empire State Building - £89.99

Released in August 2019, the LEGO Empire State Building is the 3rd iteration of the New York icon released under the Architecture logo. The first was a 2009-released 77 piece miniature, the second was a scaled up version displayed with other famous landmarks in the 2016 New York City set. But this 1767 piece, 55cm high set really is the definitive LEGO Empire State Building. Stand out design features include the 1x2 Tan Grille Tiles used to perfectly capture the landmarks windows, the metallic silver top and miniature yellow cabs.

5. LEGO Architecture 21042 Statue of Liberty - £89.99

Not to be confused with the 2000-released Statue of Liberty (3450), the 1685 piece LEGO Architecture Statue of Liberty set was released in June 2018. A stunning replica of the famous New York copper statue, this is the first LEGO Statue of Liberty to really capture the details on the statues stone pedestal. Fun fact, the torch piece is actually a minifigure hair part, a pearl gold version of the type used on the 2017 Silent Mary Captain Salazar minifigure.

The June 2020-released LEGO White House is a scaled up version of the 560 piece 2010 model. With 1483 pieces, this intricately detailed build is the first to include both the West and East Wings as well as the central Executive Residence. The set is built in 3 separate sections which are later joined to create the finished model.

3. LEGO Architecture 21017 Imperial Hotel - £99.99

The real Imperial Hotel, Tokyo was another Frank Lloyd Wright design built in the 1880s. The LEGO Imperial Hotel was an earlier Architecture release from March 2013 which had 1188 pieces. Like the 2009-released Fallingwater set, this was another early Architecture set which helped to build the theme’s professional design-focused reputation.

Nothing like any of Architecture’s other releases, the LEGO Architecture Studio really stands on its own in the series. Released in August 2013, this 1210 piece set contains an assortment of white and clear LEGO elements (bricks, plates, slopes, tiles, wedges etc.) along with two clear sorting trays. Not designed to be built as any particular model, the goal of the set (aimed at 16+ builders) was to encourage the user to design and build their own creations.

Released in September 2011, the LEGO Robie House captures the design of the real Frederick C. Robie House. An early 20th century US National Landmark and Frank Lloyd Wright design situated in the University of Chicago Campus, Illinois. This 2276 piece set contains a plethora of dark red elements, including 771 1x2 and 268 1x1 Plates.
