The Ultimate Guide To Harrods Rewards

With Harrods Rewards you earn Tier Benefits and points which are redeemed for Harrods vouchers. In this ultimate guide, I’ll walk you through the process of joining. I’ll show you how to maximise your Harrods points. Plus, what benefits you can expect at each tier level and a guide to the Harrods American Express Charge Card.

Harrods Rewards are worth it for frequent shoppers but given the premium-brand, money-saving it is not - Andrew Young (Capital Matters Editor)

How To Join Harrods Rewards And Get A Card

Head to the Harrods Rewards Sign Up Page to register.

You’ll be given a digital card which you can download to Apple Wallet or Google Pay. Physical cards aren’t issued any more but they still work (you can get a temporary physical card issued on the 3rd floor at Harrods Knightsbridge but a digital card is much easier to use).

Once you’ve registered, you’ll automatically collect points when you shop at Harrods.com. You use the digital card to collect points when you shop at the Knightsbridge store, H Beauty or Airport Boutiques.

Earning Harrods Rewards Points

You earn Harrods Rewards points for every £1 spent in-store and online. Your points-earning rate is primarily determined by your Harrods Tier:

  • Green Tier 1/2 - 1 Point Per £1 Spent

  • Gold Tier - 2 Points Per £1 Spent

  • Black Tier - 3 Points Per £1 Spent

But there are a few ways to boost your Harrods Points-earning:

  • Bonus Point Days - Up to 10,000 Points Max

  • Birthday Week Point Boost - Monday through Sunday (add your birthday date on your account homepage)

  • Harrods American Express Card - 1,000 Points Sign-Up Bonus + 2 Extra Points In Addition To Tier Points

Harrods Rewards Membership Tiers

There are 4 Harrods Rewards Tiers (Green Tier 1, Green Tier 2, Gold Tier and Black Tier). Your Tier is dependent upon your spend in a calendar year, from January 1st to December 31st.

How do you get to Black tier, for example, you have to spend a minimum of £10,000 in Harrods in one calendar year.

And to clarify, your Harrods Tier is determined by amount spent, not points-earned.

For example, even if you’ve earned 2,000 points, you may still be in Green Tier 1 if some of those points were earned on bonus point days. Here’s an outline of each Harrods Rewards Tier:

Green 1 Green 2 Gold Black
Minimum Spend Per Year Up to £1,999 £2K - £4,999 £5K - £9,999    £10,000+
Points Per £1 Spent 1 1 2 3
Discount Days
Bonus Point Days
Redeem Points
Mini Harrods Invite
Free Harrods Magazine
Free Gift Box Per Day
Free Delivery (Spend £250+)
Free Tea/Coffee In Store
2 Extra 10% Discount Days
Basic Alterations (<£25)
Personal Shopper
2 Hours Free Parking

Here’s further explanation of some of the less obvious benefits:

  • Mini Harrods - Register your child (up to age 10) - Access to offers and promos (eg. 10% Discount on Child’s Birthday)

  • Personal Shopper - Harrods consultant for clothing, furniture, homeware, jewellery etc.

  • 10% Off Day - In-Store only and must be booked through your online account (exclusions apply: Furniture, Fine Jewellery/Watches, Food Hall, Gift Cards, Restaurants, Hair & Beauty, Some Fashion Brands)

How Much Are Harrods Rewards Points Worth?

Harrods Rewards Points are valued at 1p per Point

That’s because you earn a £5 cash voucher for every 500 points you earn. Your points are redeemed automatically at the end of each calendar year but you can manually convert points through your online account by clicking on ‘Anytime Points Redemption’. Anything left over is carried forward to next year.

Disappointingly, you can’t currently put your cash balance towards online purchases. It must be redeemed at Harrods Knightsbridge or H Beauty. Gift cards, restaurant purchases, purchases at Harrods airport stores, Aviation and Estates are all excluded too.

Since your points-earning rate depends on your tier (and use of a Harrods Amex card), here’s what Harrods Points are really worth to you:

  • If You’re Green Tiers - 1% Back

  • If You’re Gold Tier - 2% Back

  • If You’re Black Tier - 3% Back

  • If You Use Harrods Amex In-Store - 2% Back In Addition To Your Tier

Do Harrods Rewards Points and Cash Vouchers Expire?

Yes, any Harrods Rewards Points that aren’t manually or auto-converted to £5 cash vouchers (in 500 point increments) at year end will expire after 12 months of account inactivity.

Cash vouchers, shown in ‘Current Cash Balance’ on your online account, are available for 2 years from the date of issue. That means that cash vouchers can expire at different times depending on when earned.

Currently, due to Covid-19 all tier statuses are extended to 31st December 2021, regardless of 2020 points earned

The Harrods American Express Charge Card

I’ve removed the ‘Apply For The Harrods American Express Card’ benefit from the Gold and Black tiers. That’s because, even though the website says it’s still invitation-only, you can now actually just apply through the American Express website. If you’re thinking of applying, I’d make sure you’re already a Harrods Rewards member.

Whilst this is still one of the most exclusive American Express cards in existence, its benefits are still a bit limited. Especially considering the type of clientele this card is aimed towards. So, what are the benefits and the drawbacks:

Benefits

  • 1,000 Harrods Rewards Points Sign-Up Bonus - Worth £10

  • 2 Extra Harrods Rewards Points For Harrods Spending - If you’re a Black Tier member, this can equate to 5% back

  • 1 Harrods Reward Point Per £1 Spent Elsewhere - Worth £5 in Harrods per £500 spent elsewhere

  • Discovery Hammam Experience (Moroccan Spa) - 20 minute experience which includes black-soap application, traditional exfoliation, access to the warm room and relaxation facilities (usually £60)

  • Personal Shopper - Normally reserved for Gold and Black Tier members

  • Invite-Only Experiences - Tailored to you based on your shopping habits

Drawbacks:

  • £150 Annual Fee - £30 For Supplementary Cardholders

  • £12 Late Payment Charges - Avoid by paying in full every month (as is recommended with any credit or charge card)

  • Non-Sterling Transaction Fee of 2.99% - In line with other UK American Express Cards
