Maximise Ebay Cashback and Points: 3 Steps

When spending on eBay, if you do it efficiently, you can take advantage of not just 2, but 3 point and cashback offers to maximise your savings. Here’s how…

How It Works

You’re going to take advantage of 3 separate point and cashback offers:

1. Cashback

Before you purchase your item on eBay, make sure you go through a cashback website. EBay has partnerships with both Quidco and TopCashback which grant you cashback on most of your eBay spending.

All you have to do is sign up to Quidco (Bonus: Get £10 if you use my referral link) or TopCashback (I’d sign up to both as either of the two could have the better offer for a time). Search for eBay on either of the sites, pick the best offer and then click through to eBay from their link before you complete your eBay purchase.

Cashback rates vary, sometimes depending on the product type that you buy on eBay, but you can expect a cashback rate of between 0.5%-2.5%

Quidco had the best offering when I last checked (2.4% up to £50) but the offers will vary week-to-week.

So, that’s the 1st step to getting your triple points and cashback. On to the 2nd step.

2. Nectar Points

The next step is to connect your Nectar card so that you can earn Nectar points on your eBay spending.

  • On desktop head to eBay, go to ‘My Ebay’ then ‘Nectar: Collect and Spend’ to connect your Nectar card

  • On mobile, download the Nectar app, search for eBay and then follow through the links to contact Nectar to eBay

Once eBay and Nectar are connected, you’ll earn Nectar points on your eBay spending. The Nectar logo will pop up on any eBay item’s details page.

You’ll collect 1 Nectar Point per £1 spent on eBay on most items

You Can’t Collect Nectar Points On The Following

Cars, motorcycles, vans, holidays, travel, gift vouchers, coupons, baby formula, Tesco Outlet, Co-Op Electrical or Pay As You Go Mobile providers.

That’s the 2nd step to getting triple points and cashback on your eBay spending. On to the last.

3. Your Credit/Debit Card

So you’ve gone through a cashback website and you’re ready to collect Nectar points on top. The third step is all about what you’re spending with when you get to the checkout.

If you complete your purchase with a non-point-or-cashback-earning Credit or Debit Card, you’re effectively losing out on an additional saving.

Credit and debit card offers vary so pick the best one for you. Here are my top 3:

How Much Can You Save?

If you’ve used all three steps to maximise the efficiency of your eBay spending, you can expect these sort of savings per £1 spent:

  • Cashback: 0.5%-2.5% (Quidco or TopCashback)

  • Nectar Points: 0.5% (0.5p Per Nectar Point)

  • Your Credit/Debit Card: 0.5%-3.4% (0.5p-3.4p in Points)

Overall, that’s a saving of between 1.5% and 6.4% on your eBay purchases!
